Why Carpet Cleaning Is Necessary!

Cleaning Your Carpet

While vacuuming is sufficient to remove most dry soil, oily soil which comes from cooking vapors, air pollution and tracked-in dirt from outside presents a different type of problem.  The particles of oily soil deposited on carpet fibres can cause gradual but significant dulling of delicate pastel colours; the colour is not lost but is hidden under the film.  If this type of soil is allowed to accumulate, it literally glues the pile fibres together and begins to attract and hold the dry soil.  This is the reason that cleaning is so important when fading of colour is first noticed; if allowed to remain too long, it becomes gummy and difficult to remove.

If the carpet is cleaned before it becomes too unsightly, the cleaning process will be easier and more successful.  It is a myth that cleaning the carpet before it is absolutely necessary will cause it to get dirty faster.  However, choice of the proper cleaning system is important, in that some systems may leave residues which promote re-soiling and defeat the whole purpose of cleaning.

We use the hot water extraction system, which research indicates provides the best capability for cleaning.  This system is commonly referred to as "steam cleaning", although no steam is actually generated.  The process consists of spraying, under pressure, a solution of water and detergent into the pile and recovering the water and soil with a powerful vacuum into a holding tank.  We have spent time researching and testing various chemicals, and we have found Prochem to be the best product. http://www.prochem.co.uk

Before We Visit

Although we will move large furniture - such as chairs and tables - for insurance reasons we ask customers to move small valuable items such as ornaments before we arrive.

The Cleaning Process

Firstly we thoroughly vacuum using a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter, which helps to remove the smallest particles using a crevice tool around the edges and going slowly across the traffic lanes, ensuring we remove as much dry soil before the extraction cleaning begins.

Next we will identify the fabric to be cleaned, as some fabrics such as wool has to be tackled in a particular way, low pH or acidic rinse cleaning temp.

We will pre-spot your carpet to remove all difficult stains, using the very latest products from Prochem.

Next we apply a heavy duty pre-spray solution. This advanced cleaner will eliminate dust mites, allergens and electro-mechanically lift oily dirt sand pollutants from your carpet fibres and suspend them floating in an aqueous solution, ready to quickly and safely remove using state of the art portable extraction machine that is up to 10 times more powerful than the competitions portable machines.

The machine we use to thoroughly clean and rinse your carpets is a portable high pressure water extraction unit, which shoots the detergent it into the carpet at high pressure. This helps to break up dirt, bacteria and pollens that are in your carpet. The machine then produces a huge vacuum to draw the dirt and solution out of your carpet. This ensures a residue free rinse that keeps the integrity of your carpet and helps to reduce further soiling.

Your furniture is replaced onto foil to prevent marks coming off onto the freshly cleaned carpet. Your carpet is then groomed where appropriate to leave it in the best possible condition. This usually means running a grooming rake over the area, so the fibres as tangle free as possible. We can then use a turbo drier which will speed up the drying time of your carpet if required.

After We Leave

After cleaning, it is best to leave your carpet to fully dry for a couple of hours.
